Hello from Texas-Orchid ID?
Hello all,
My name is Elisabeth and I am currently the care taker of my husbands orchids. He has been hospitalized since July 19 with no end in sight as of yet.
I think I am doing a good job on his 30 some orchid collection. I am trying to add small images to the orchids to remember the blooms.
Can I attach an image for identification? I can not find out anything for a certain orchid. What size do the images have to be.
Thank you,
Elisabeth

I think you have an Ionocidium hybrid (Ionopsis x Oncidium).

Hi,

Ionocidum Popcorn 'Haruri' Also known as joy plant.

Welcome to the Orchid Board. Hope everything goes well for you. If you do not have a tag for it, its called a NOID meaning no ID. They are too many look alikes to give it a full name. So Ionocidium NOID, would be it's name. Why not use a picture while it is in bloom to put by it.? You'll have a new addiction before long called orchidoholism.

Hi Carol,
We already have major orchidoholism going on. We have 34 orchids so far and I just ordered another beauty today. Running out of room. Actually we have some on the wall. LOL We like the unusual things and I am getting more smaller ones do to space. I would love to extend my window sills.
I did find out the name of the Orchid thanks to paphmadman who let me know it is an Inonocidium. I found it only on Japanese web sites. It looks exactly like it.

Nice to meet everyone.
Can I post pictures of all my orchids somewhere?
I would love to share.

Find the Gallery on the menu, , you can post your pics there for all to see. Looking forward to you gallery. They say to resize your pics before trying to load, I think it takes 800X800 pics. If not maybe 600x600. Good Luck!

Welcome to Orchid Board Elisabeth
Sorry to hear your husband is ill, well done for taking on his collection.
With many orchids even if you find an orchid that looks exactly like it you can't be certain without a tag. There are exceptions to that with destinctive ones, I'm not sure if the one above is one of those or not, but the main thing is to know what Genus or at least what Alliance it is so that you can care for it correctly.
If you have found an Ionocidium that looks like it then you at least know it's in the Ionocidium Genus. For care I would guess this is along the lines of Oncidium and there is a care sheet for Oncidium here.
