There's a judging center right in Tampa, they do it on one certain evening of each month. If you're interested, I'll come up with the information for you. There's nothing to it...bring the plant, fill out a slip with the plant's name and parentage (which happens to be Phal. Hausermann's Candy x Phal. Daryl Lockhart) and the judges will do the rest.

Your 'chid is gorgeous...it might have a chance
Even if it doesn't get an award, it'll be an experience not many people get a shot at

Sounds like you've got a great collection growing...and your Baldan's Kaleidoscope is WOW!!!!
Are you growing them all outdoors?

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask
Susanne thanks for the warm welcome and all the information. I know exactly where SH is located. Mike and I were actually both born and raised in New Port Richey. Mike lived in the Philippines for a few years when he was younger, so he loves orchids because they remind him of his family and the islands.

Can you recommend some nice greenhouses in the Tampa Bay area?

There's Louis Del Favero in Tampa which is always a pleasure to visit. There are a few others around but if you want to get a few of them in one place, go to the Spring Into Summer Sale at Byrd's Orchids in Lakeland on June 2. There will be 2 guest orchid vendors (B&D and Featherstone) and another...Preston's Flower Pots.

I'll post address and directions later today

Byrd's Orchids

I'll probably be going to this one as I've never been to Bill & Wanda's place. They are one of our club's show vendors and have really nice 'chids...they're also really really nice people

Same goes for B&D Orchids...they've got the most wonderful Cymbidiums! Stunning, always!

and Featherstone Orchids is one of my favorites...
Ed & Lyn are members of our club and a good portion of my collection comes from them

Lakeland is very easy to get to, especially if you're using I-4...once you reach your exit, the nursery is moments away!

Thanks Susanne I will have to check that one out. I LOVE Louis Del Favro; most of my collection is from there. On Saturday I am going to get some supplies and maybe ONE orchid from Phelps Farm right down the road from Louis' place. I went to the Tampa Orchid Society show and sale at the Philippine center a couple of weeks ago, and that is where I bought my Den. Spectabile from Featherstone. I know Byrd's was there, but honestly I don't remember which one they were.

Have you ever heard of Florida Native Orchids in St. Petersburg? If I remember correctly I found their website from the local society website. They are having a large spring sale on May 20th from dawn until 4 PM. I am hoping I can get Mike and myself out of bed to get their that early.
