I wouldn't try to transplant the Darlingtonia that grows in the serpentine wet soils near where you'll be. Not worth it. Just study and enjoy it. You can get to the springs where they grow year around. I used to work on the Siskiyou National Forest and know the area quite well.

Glad you can join us here!
We are all new to orchids .. you can never learn enough!

Do any of your carnivorous plants ask you to feed them?

Ross- It's funny that picture you this way!

I found that too. What is up with those guys? How do they exist? Unless I place a fly directly into the trap, they never seem to do their job?

I saw a program on public Tv , I believe it might have been called 'The First Flower' ( might not have..lol .. but that was a great one too) Or maybe Plant Earth .. where spiders go into pitcher plants to fish out insects and/or remove the corpses for dinner. They use their silk thread as a life rope to prevent from getting drowning and being eaten by the plant and in return keep the plant clean .. nature is truly amazing!

Tissue culture at 14!! Congrats!
Welcome to the Orchid Forum. If I were you I would strap myself to one of the Hawain giant lava boulders and refuse to leave. I hope to live there one day, though I have never been there, I know it is my kind of place.
