Where is Spring, Texas? I know where Texas is and I know where the Hill Country (Austin, etc.) is and I know Big Bend, etc. but I confess I've never heard of Spring. Welcome and I hope you plan to share your experiences and photos with us real soon.

Default Thanks for the welcome!!

I will give ya'll a little history of my orchid growing.
I bought my first at Home Depot. It was a cute little Dendrobium hybrid. It was enough to get me hooked. I seemed to have good luck with the first few I bought and eventually found one I couldn't keep alive!! Eventually I got my friend next door hooked and we eventually built a greenhouse in her backyard to house our growing collection. My yard was too shady, that's why we chose hers. Together we had about 160 plants of varying types. Then in August 2005 we lost them all in Hurricane Katrina. I spent 3 hours bringing them indoors so the wind wouldn't kill them. Little did I know that the saltwater would be the murderer. We have since relocated to Spring, Texas which is a north suburb of Houston. I have been slowly rebuilding my collection which now numbers around 40 plants. My friend also relocated here ( right next door again ) but she is still not over losing her orchids and has only replaced a few. I am trying hard not to have as many as before since I don't have a greenhouse and have no plans to build one. I have mostly been attracted to miniatures mounted on bark, tree fern, etc. I am looking forward to this forum and getting to know fellow orchid nuts!!

Ya'll have a great weekend!!!
Prissy

Hi Prissy...you've definitely found the right place if you're looking for "orchid nuts"!

Sorry to hear about losing everything to Katrina but thankfully you made it through and that's what counts

Check out our forums, lots of us around here are into mini orchids...some because they have no room and others because I, I mean WE, we have no boundaries in our addiction

We have a nightly chat starting around 8pm est each night, ya'll stop by and set a spell
