Hi from Quebec City, Canada Male
Default Hi from Quebec City, Canada

Hi there,

I've been lurking on this forums for a little while and decide to finally break the ice (must be an influence from spring!).

So my name is Tommy Landry, I'm 26 and I've been growing mainly carnivorous plants and orchids for now 10 years, but frequent movings and a recent problem in culivation downsized my collection significatively in the last 2 years. I live in Quebec city (Canada). Now I am focussing on low-light orchids (Bulbos are the simply the best! ) and mostly Pinguicula and Utricularia for carnivorous plants, but I am not limited to those... As I said, now I try to focus my collection on Bulbos but I also love the miniatures and especially the odds ones. As one of my others hobbies, I love to do some TC at home, with some success which are limited by my frequent movings.

This is a very nice forum, I just hope to have some time to post . Now where are the Canadian bulbophyllum addicts?

Hay Tom ... I'm glad you decided to jump in here and say HI!
Welcome to the OB forum
I don't have any bulbos, like them, just don't have any
Nonetheless many others here do.
JUST WAIT AND SEE

Welcome Tom, glad you spoke up! Bulbos are great! I have a couple in a Orchidarium (terrarium) and you are very correct - they grow under very low light and seem to love high-high moisture. Mine stay WET all the time and grow crazy.

Aboard Tom, lurking is very intising here on the OB, its a great place to be and learn all you need to know about orchids. I know some of our members are bulbo addicts and can share their experiences with you.

"odd one's" stinky bulbo's.

Welcome Tom from Newfoundland! I must admit I've never grown a Bulbo....I'm a confirmed slipper addict but also dabble in phals and the oncidium alliance. The few cattleya alliance and vandaceous I grow in a greenhouse at work. I work at the Memorial University Botanical Garden and we are now building a wardian case for the public display of my orchids there! We are also including insectivore plants...Darlingtonia was our latest acquisition.
