Hi Ashley,

This looks like a nice, healthy phal, but the medium is definitely ready for a change. When you buy potting media, you can tell by looking that it is newer than what you have. The colour is much lighter and it smells fresh. Once you have used up bark medium, it begins to smell almost moldy ~ definitely not fresh, the colour is much darker and it begins to get almost "squishy" as it breaks down.

Buy potting media made specially for your plant and remember to give the bark a really good soaking before you use it so your roots are not damaged by repotting.

Good luck!

P

I agree with the comments above. The roots look good just now, but the medium probably needs changing.

Watering when the roots go silver is a good tip. That's the main meausre of watering that I use.
