Thanks, Sweetjblue. I will check them out.
Is it possible to get Pamela Hetherington anymore or am I dreaming?

Hi Terri,
Where are you located? I got a Pamela Hetherington 'Coronation' (which I already killed) from an orchid hobbyist here in Cali last year. When I went to his greenhouse (last year) he still has a few Pamela Hetherington 'Coronation' (if that's what you're looking for) It's just hard to talk to him on the phone because he's an 84 y.o. asian guy with a thick accent but I can try and call him and check if you're interested. Oh, and one more thing, his orchids are not cheap, I paid $80 on mine but his plants are very healthy.

Hi Marissa,
It is my understanding that Pamela Hetherington was the first orchid with this name put out by Stewart's Nursery a long time ago, like maybe 15 years ago. I have seen Pamela Hetherington "Commemorative" and PH "Coronation" but they do not smell the same and the color is different.
Do you have any resources that could verify that I am right in this or narrow it down to a year or something? Maybe if I had more specific info, I could add to my search criteria and locate a plant.
I live in PA.

No, sorry. All I remember was that he was telling me the history of the orchid but I wasn't paying attention because I was too busy browsing his greenhouse

terrisommella,
Orchidwiz shows that Pamela Hetherington was registered by Stewarts Orchids in 1970. The cultivar
'Coronation' was awarded an "AM" in 1977 and a "FCC"
in 1981. Two additional cultivars were awarded as well.
'Gay' an "AM" in 1972 and 'Pastel an "HCC" in 1978.
Additional info for you, in the awards notes Coronation is not noted as being fragrant, neither is Gay, thats not to say they aren't, it just may not have been noted at the time. However, Pastel states that it is. There is no mention of the
Commemorative cultivar.
A quick search on Google doesn't show any one selling PM, but there are alot of crosses made with her.
Have you tried placing a WTB in the classified section of OB? Some one may just have one. You can also place an ad on the Orchid Mall " The Unclassifieds Ads". Good place when you are looking for an older cross.
Hope this helps you in your search!

Hi Judi,
Thanks for the help. I did post an ad under Wanted here. Your idea to post an ad in the Unclassifieds was a brilliant idea so I jumped on it.
It seems strange that so many folks know the name but no one has the plant. ???
The original PH had a very delicate scent but almost like a rose. From what I have read, the newer scented crosses smell more like bubble gum. They are also more of a purple pink in color whereas PH was a true delicate clear pink.

If you don't have the actual name of the PH clone you are looking for, you may not be able to find one that smells the way you remember it (yours sounds like it was not a named cultivar that was cloned and so you may never get exactly what you are looking for). Because it is an older cross, the most popular clones (and ones that you will most likely be able to find) are going to be the ones that have been awarded, like 'Coronation.'
I hope this all makes sense. You could always be on the lookout for someone who has remade the cross and buy some seedlings, grow them out, and see if any are like the one you remember. Other than that, you may be stuck with the popular clones that are available.
Good luck with your search!

Oh, my I hope not. I can't give up after all this time. It seems unlikely that there are NO original PH clones left. I don't know. The search goes on. Perhaps someone here will have a brilliant idea. Thanks.
