I'm a little confused (and someone correct me if I'm wrong or not understanding something here). What do you mean by original PH clone?... If it doesn't have a clonal name, like 'Coronation' then it is not a clone (at least in the sense that you can go out and buy it in mass or even if you got a division that was unawarded/didn't have a clonal name, you wouldn't know how it would be unless you saw it in person). The hybrid, Pamela Hetherington, is just the name for any offspring that are produced using two specific parents (in this case Pardisio and Mount Anderson). There is no original clone that is called 'Pamela Hetherington' that is the hybrid name and applies to all offspring with those parents.

Again , I may not be exapling this well...but to my knowledge, there is a hybrid called Pamela Hetherington (with famous clones like 'Coronation') and there are no clones that are Pamela Hetherington 'Pamela Hetherington' and so no original PH clone...

Hi Orkie,

I can see that my original post could be confusing. Thanks for that.

Let me give a brief back story. I received this orchid as a gift from a longtime experienced breeder in 1989. My plant was a division from his plant and was labled as "Pamela Hetherington."

After a lot of research and help from more experienced folks, it seems to me that either my freind's plant was an unawarded sibling of the original cross or was mislabeled and was in fact Pamela Hetherington 'Pastel.'

Does that make sense?

Terri

Yes that does make more sense, although there is no way of finding a specific un-named, unawarded plant from that long ago unless you can contact the original person it came from...but if it's 'Pastel' you will have more luck.

Good luck with your search!

Thanks. Any ideas on how to look for 'pastel'? Any ideas for good reasonable sources for 'Coronation'?

Not sure about reasonable, but here's a vendor who has 'Coronation'

1888Orchids.com - Blc. Pamela Hetherington "Coronation" AM/AOS

You may also want to try contacting a classic Cattleya specialist and asking them, even if it's not listed. I'd try Chadwick and Sons, Waldor Orchids for sure, and maybe Hausermann's.

They are sold out of PH 'Coronation'. Waldor and Hausermann's I hit. I will try Chadwick. Thanks for the tip.
