Default New in San Francisco..

Hey everyone, thought I'd get around to introducing myself. I'm from San Francisco, and got into orchids the accidental way - by taking care of a group of plants someone else was unable to care for. Since I'm a little ocd about keeping things alive, I started investigating how to save the poor things (mostly underwatered, not enough light, root rot, etc), and then took the plunge into purchasing a few of my own.

Currently this is my collection -

B. Little Stars (Brassavola nodosa X Brassavola cordata
Epi. Hula Dancer 'Paradise Orchids'
Paphiopedilum HKS 280 - Pulsar X Flame Arrow (likely not going to make it, terrible root rot from a previous owner)
Masdevallia Machu Pichu ‘Crown Point’
Vasco Viboon Velvet 'Perfection'
den aggregatum
Neofinetia Falcata – Suikaden

Plus two unidentified dens, one mounted on a branch, hoping to get blooms from at least one to figure out what they are.

Thanks! Looking forward to making some new friends on here and learning more about these great plants.

Default funny you should say...

Because we do have several in the back yard, two of whom are spiking at the moment.

My partner keeps finding abandoned ones on the sidewalk - we suspect people buy them at Trader Jo's and then cast them off when they fall out of bloom. Our biggest problem is keeping the snails off of them, and also that they thrive and need to be divided yearly!

Welcome Tristan! Your list is pretty impressive. I hope you enjoy it here on OB and don't be shy about posting pics of your babies.

Welcome aboard and take trdyl advice on the snails with the link provided. The first one works the best in my opinion they love beer!
