Well Hello!
Hello everyone. My name is Suzy and I'm from Washington state. New to the board and am crazy about orchids. Hope to learn some from everyone as well as share a little info if I can.

Hello and welcome to the OB. What kind of orchids do you have?

Well I have 11 orchids total, plus 1 (phal.) I'm saving from death for a co-worker. I haven't identified all of them yet. I know I have 1 cymbidium (bright yellow, burgundy throat), 1 dendrobium (light purple, dark purple throat), 3 Phal. (white & yellow, yellow & red, bright fuschia/purple color), 2 Paphiopedilum (dark burgundy with black spots & the other is multi-colored), 1 epidendrum (bright orange), 1 militonia (dark red/burgundy), 2 oncidiums (yellow & burgundy, white and burgundy).
I'd love to own more orchids but my husband has told me our house has started to look like a jungle (between the orchids and other house plants I have).

Welcome!
An orchid lover can never have too many!
Tell your husband that the plants oxygenate and clean the air, keep it at a healthy humidity, and, most important of all, they make you happy.

I have a feeling that some of the house plants may be finding new homes to make room for more chids. Orchids are like potato chips...you can never only have a couple. I WANT THE WHOLE BAG! I started out with 2..then added 2...then added 5...then went to Hawaii and added 4 then went to an Orchid Society meeting and show and the rest is history about 200++. I don't count them anymore. My husband tried and quit. He says my spending on orchids is cheaper than redoing the kitchen. (That is on the list too)

@ Connie Star - I already tried that one with the husband. He just laughed and walked away. Anyway, he has too many hobbies himself to really give me grief.
@ Tropic Girl - haha
@ Lorraine - I really can't add too many more seeing as that our place is only about 900 sq/ft. We are going to Hawaii in June....so, how easy is it to bring chids home with you?

Hawaii was easy, I had them shipped so they arrived after I got home. Just do your homework...most of the ones I got did not survive for me. My temps are way too hot for too long so selecting the right chids is worth it. 900 sq/ft still is plenty of room. You use a wall with lattice and go for the smaller types and mount them. We have a section on Mounting and lots of ideas.
