Talking Questioner from Colorado!

Hi Everyone!

I am so happy to have found this resource.
The past month or two I've really gone to town trying to find good orchid forums that I can learn in. In addition to aosforum, I post on OrchidBoard and OrchidSource.

You may have noticed that I REALLY ask lots of questions. I love knowing how things work, and try to make sure I cover all my bases. I can't thank you guys enough for putting up with me! I try to be as considerate and open as I can.

I'm a Nursing/Music student in my third year of college. My first 2 1/2 years I was at a wonderful private college in SD where I started taking care of my first (and so far, biggest and healthiest!) orchid- a phalaenopsis I got from Costco by Kerry's Orchids.
I've now returned home to CO- Denver to get my act together and figure some stuff out.

I'm owned by two wonderful cats- one of which I brought home with me this Christmas from a shelter in SD.

I volunteer a lot at the Denver Botanic Gardens during the summer.

My other interests include: classical music, cats and orchids of course!, bettas and aquariums, and nature conservation.

My Orchid Collection:
5 phals- only one I have a tag for, I believe it is a miniature- 'Ping Tung Gold' (attached)
1 Epidendrum Ibaguense
1 Oncidium 'Twinkle' (attached)
1 Odont/Onc. Intergeneric

I'm a scavenger :P two of the phals and the intergeneric were saved from the trash at grocery stores.

Thanks dounoharm! Definitely working on getting onto that track, I've hit some bumps lately.
'Fascinating' is a very apt word for this hobby! I love learning about them.

You know what's funny? I love that people here assume I'm female- which I am. I've always considered Izzie a unisex name.

Unisex name or not, I think that the female symbol in the upper right hand corner kinda gives us a bit of a hint.

And Welcome!

Beautiful orchids! I've also salvaged a few plants, makes you feel good to know you kept alive what someone else wouldn't think twice about killing(plants and animals included!). Kudos to you!

....wow. Can you tell I'm distracted by midterms and mysterious orchid maladies?

Thanks, I agree! I'm an avid animal shelter volunteer too, of course.
