Wink Excited Orchid Newbie saying Hello :-)

Hello Everyone! I'm so happy to find your site. There's tons of great information and the members seem very friendly and helpful.

So who am I? I live in North Carolina and even though the summer days get so hot and muggy with humidity...I love it! I was raised in my Grandmother's rose garden and after I played and made decorative arrangements of my favorite blossoms, we'd sit on the back porch and snap green beans from my Grandfather's crop. Later(the apt. years)I learned about indoor plants and eventually began to study the art of Bonsai and Ikebana.
Since I own a condo, there's only so much growing space outside(think patio)...but I love my bloodgood maple, chinese elm and blueberry(yes, it's awesome!) bonsai.

So, the night before last, I bought a beautiful orchid (Bak. Everglades Hunter) at the Harris Teeter!! I have no clue what I was thinking except "This is so beautiful..."

I am in love with it and can't wait to learn more as I have many, many questions. I've always been scared of orchids so this is a brand new branch of my hobby! Exciting!
I can't wait to ask you all (or ya'll) a few questions and hopefully answer some too!

Welcome to the OrchidBoard. There are alot of North Carolinians here - I'm in Wilmington.

Bakerara, abbreviated Bak., is an intergeneric hybrids between the orchid genera Brassia, Miltonia and Odontoglossum (Brs. x Milt. x Odm. x Onc.).

Here is a great care sheet for Oncidium alliance intergeneric hybrids.

Oncidium Culture, Aspasia, Brassia, Gomesa, Maxillaria, Miltonia, Ornithocephalus, Psychopsis, Psygmorchis, Rodriguezia, Tolumnia, Zygopetalum
