Hello from Lancashire
Hi.
My name is Carol, I am an Orchid Lover, but admitt that I am still a complete novice as far as the Technical stuff goes. I got fed up of buying these beautiful plant only to have them die on me a few months later, so I started reading a few articles and asked a few questions, and am pleased to report that I am now able to keep my plants alive,(touch wood).
My other love outside my family , are my cats I have 5 of them they all live in doors, with access to out door runs.
I shall look forwards to asking all sort of Newbie questions, please be patient.
Carol x

and welcome to the Orchid Board, from another Limey - on the opposite side of the Pennines to you though! I am sure you will find this a very friendly and welcoming place and people have been very patient with all the dumb questions I have asked
When I first posted on the OB I had never even been on a forum before, so if I can do it anyone can!
Good growing and keep learning

Hello Carol Ann and welcome to the OB from an OB member in Central Oregon, USA. OB has the greatest people here to give lots of knowledge and expertise. We also like lots of photo's of orchids and pets as well. We have a pet forum as well.

Hi Carol Ann. I'm not far from you, being in Liverpool. You might be interested in going to Lady Green Garden Centre the last weekend in Feb - they are having an orchid show where, if memory serves, they do repotting demos, and general orchid care... might be interesting! I'm planning to check it out.
In the meantime, welcome to the board!

Thanks for the welcome Guys.
I have been to the Barton show today, it isnt very big but the beauty of the plants is huge. Of course I had to bring a little something home with me it is a Neofinetia Falcata, bought it from Ray Creek. I havnt got any of this type so I shall see how we get on together.
I am quiet pleased as two of my Orchids have got buds all the way up all the stems, one of the plants is one I have grown from a baby, it has also got buds , they are dendrobium. Its a start.

Welcome, Carol, from another Brit.
I suppose your nearest Society is the North of England Orchid Society based in Bolton but meets all over the area. They are a super group there, meeting on the Saturday of the 2nd weekend of the month. Take a look at their super website at Orchids - all about orchids caring for orchids and how to grow them .
Also, I am secretary of the British Orchid Council where you will find much information on our website at British Orchid Council (a Registered Charity). .

There were some Orchid there today, but of course I have lost the bit of paper i wrote their name on, they smelt of Vanilla the flower were minute on like a spear shape shoot, the leaves resembled Lily of the valley shape and thickness.
