Hello,

Does anyone have any tips on getting Phrag. Sedenii and/or Phrag. Schroderae to bloom. I have both of the plants in my collection for about 4 years and so far not a single blossom. Anyone have any tips???

Phrags generally flower quite easily as long as they have a good difference between day and night temps - the temp should drop at least 5C at night. They also require moderate to fairly bright light to flower well most of the time. A bright eastern or western exposure that is shaded from the sun during the hottest part of the day, or good artificial light (about 2000-2500 footcandles) works well. Aside from that, growing conditions that support good growth, i.e. consistent moisture and proper nutrition, will lead to strong blooming.

Stronger light is my first suggestion. This works for me.

Phrag. Sedenii shouldn't be too hard to bloom. Sometimes it requires patience, but once it starts its first spike, it will bloom like clockwork.

Phrag. Schroderae probably would be slower to bloom because of the caudatum influence. As well caudatum can take higher light.
