I also used a pop bottle bottom as a substitute kiki pot. I used drywall screws twisted into the "pot" till I thought the holes were large enough. Great minds think alike. Good luck.

Welcome to the OB and congrats on your little baby!

I have used a Naked Juice bottle. They are the perfect width and you can make it as deep as you need. They are very sturdy too.

Well, another grower from Australia (think hot and dry)was also worried about how his baby would adapt when it was put in a much moister medium. His answer was to spray or mist the keiki's roots for a couple of weeks before he removed it from the mother plant. Makes sense to me and I plan on doing this with my Phal. amabilis ( who has a keiki with a spike and half a dozen buds). This is my first keiki and I definitely want to be sure the little 'chid will make a smooth transition, too!!
