Hello! Just joined the Forum
Hello Everyone,
I have accumulated a little orchid collection in my home over the past two 1/2 years (starting like many with a small Phal from Home Depot), I am looking forward to sharing orchid experiences and tips with you all.
Cheers

Hello and welcome to Orchidboard
It's always nice to have a new friend join us
Where are you located? What, besides the Phal, do you have in your collection? We'd love to hear more...and we're a bunch of junkies so seeing pics of yours would be very nice
We've got a great gallery and a nightly chat, starting around 8pm. I hope to see you around the neighborhood

Welcome to the Orchid Board. You'll find that most of us started out the same way, and now we have orchids coming out of our ears. Trying to figure out new ways to grow more in limited spaces. Ahhhh, I think you'll like it here. Glad you joined up

Thank you for yoour wellcome!
Thank you all for your welcome messages, I am excited to join the club.
The orchids in my collection are mostly Phals of different sizes and colors (they are all beautiful, can’t say which one I like best) some with a proper name attached, some not. They seem happy in my home and I have the oldest ones in bloom for the second or third time. I also have a few sympodial orchids acquired more recently in particular a Degarmoara and a Brassia, which hopefully will rebloom this summer. Do they need a period with colder temperatures to make a spike, and if yes, at what stages of the shoot/bulb development should they be cooled? I live in Vancouver where humidity is NOT a problem, rather the long gloomy and dark winter days, so I use a fluorescent light cart for the winter.
A few picts attached!
