Just want to say hi to all the people on this forum. I just started getting into orchids in the last year or so. It started with my passion for reptiles and amphibians but I had to give that up because of my sons athsma. I am currently building a room in my basement to get back into that hobby. I got into orchids to tide me over until I could get back into herpetology again but orchids have become much more than just a filler. Because of my background my main interest is species orchids for sure. Anyways now you know a bit about me and I look forward to meeting all you.
Unfortunately my opinion are solely based on photographs. I only have at most six species in my collection, some of which I will post photos of to have the forum member validate for me. On the top of my wanted list is Vanda coerulea, Vanda tricolor suavis, Gongora unicolor, and Coelogyne pandurata to name just a few. My wanted list consists of over seventy species and I am sure the more species I discover will cause the list to expand exponentially. What are your favorite species.
Hi RBeitle,
I bet you'll only see your list expand while you visit this board, that's happening to me too! You see other members post pictures of their beautiful orchids and you start thinking 'hey, I wanna try that one!!'.
My favorite species keep changing, really, it's whatever I have in bloom at home . Have to say that Coelogyne corymbosa and Maxillaria uncata are on top of my wishlist now though!
Happy growing!
