Hi Everyone!! I have tried to reply to this thread several times. Don't know what I did (or am doing) wrong!!
Anyway, I'll try again. Glad to meet you all and maybe I'll see some of you at a Michigan orchid show. My husband and I don't travel much anymore, so that's the most likely place for a chance encounter.
BTW, forgot to mention that most of my orchids spend their summers on our screened in porch. It's a west exposure with filtered sun or a north exposure depending on where I put the plants. I think that helps to keep them blooming. The oncidium was a reall challenge. It's blooming right now for the first time.
I live in southeast Michigan in a small town called Belleville. It used to be pretty rural, but the whole area is growing rapidly now. But was still manage to feel like we're in the country, since we have 5 acres as do the neighbors on both sides.

What a coincidence! We go to Belleville several times a year as I have an old friend living there (Martinsville Road). I dropped over to see BikerDoc once, but all he wanted to do was brag about his greenhouse Seriously, Kitty, we have a great bunch here. Hope you stick around and share your 'chids with us and your questions and experiences.

KC if you ever get to the West Bloomfield area let me know and I'd love to have you over. And Cadillac is just too far to travel and Ross will probably want to take you over to Adam's place just to show off!!!!!

Adam is another OB person who is very much into chids and a very knowledgeable guy who lives in the Cadillac area. I've never been to his place and some day I will visit Ross and Adam....

Welcome to the forum Kitty. Meechigan, eh? If I didn't know better, I'd think of Michigan and orchids and go
Actually, I spent some time there as a child (`64-68) AND, I actually saw those white slippers in the wild.
As for growing chids with lights, I use only that great big one that swings by on a daily rotation s`bout 12 hrs a day.
And what's with all this hatin' on tans? I despise the sun but just can't help but have one.
Anyhoos, back on track, you'll get all the info you need to grow happy chids so don't be afraid to ask a question or two.
