Hi Morgan Welcome to OrchidBoard

Here's some of information, called a Culture Sheet, that will give you the basics you need to know for a healthy Phal

http://orchidweb.org/aos/uploadedfil...lturephals.pdf

If you have any questions, we have a very friendly group of people here willing to help you

I'm always happy to see somebody so young become interested in growing orchids...it means you have lots and lots of time to accumulate more!

Did you like any others you saw at the show? Did you take notes?

Aboard Morgan its great you have found your way to the best and most knowledgable orchid forum on the web. Your phal is so pretty. You see there is a tag, keep the tag with the orchid this way you will know each and every orchid you purchase and also helps with its cultral habits.

Phal's are realtively easy and very forgiving orchids so you have choosen a great starter orchid. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you might have, we all started out the same way you did...one chid at a time...

Hi Morgan

If your plant came with a tag stuck in the pot, it should stay there. If you know the specific name of the plant you have (any time), it's easier to find out specifically what it needs to flourish.

You might want to write the name in a notebook...there's a good chance that you and your Mom will get more orchids (they're like potato chips...can't have just one ), and it's always good to keep a listing of what you get as you get it. You should also keep track of the date you bought it.

In the orchid world, "culture" or "cultural habits" is the information regarding the best way to get a particular type of orchid to grow to be it's best

Does this help you to understand a little more?
