Default Hello from Kansas!

Hi, I'm Pupka and I live in sunny Kansas! I recently registered on your forum and found it very helpful and friendly. I'm very glad that now, thanks to our technology, people can share their interests from all over the world! Orchids -- is a beautiful hobby, which I discovered few months ago. Up until then I've been growing other plants, and thinking that orchids are difficult to grow. Finally I was killed by their beauty, and bought my first phal ( of course it was phal ) from Wal-Mart. It bloomed for me few months and that was enough to get me paralyzed -- now I have over 10 orchid pots and that number is growing up. I think I'm sticked to them forever, the only thing that bothers me is that I don't have a lot of space that would be suitable for orchids in my house...
Anyway, this forum is great. Lots of interesting topics and infos. Friendly people. I think with such community and attitude everyone can grow at least one orchid that would bring lots of pleasure. GO ORCHIDS!
Thank you very much!

Pupka

Growing orchids can be addicting, unlike most other plant families. Hehe, except Aroids. Anyway, glad you decided to join us, and Welcome to the Orchid Board!!!

Goodmorning,

Like you I dont have alot of room lol but I am trying to work on maby a few low shelves around the home.

I am new to orchids and have fallen in love ,my self with orchids . I am from Kansas to and in my area other then a few green houses Wal-mart or Home Depot is my only source for these plants. The one David got for me a year ago was from a green house and they didn't have alot of info to give me with my Phal. That is why this site has been a life saver for my Phal. I am looking forward to getting my next orchid but didn't want to spend 40 dollors on a new one if I couldn't keep the first one alive. I hope like my self you learn alot from the cool ppl here..Have a good day Terri

Thank you guys, for replies!!!

Terri, I know that in Wal-Mart or Lowes, they have only phals or rarely dendrobiums. If you want to go advanced and buy some other types of orchids like cattleyas, oncidiums, or paps for example, buy online. Almost all my orchids I bought online, and some of them I bought on Orchid Shows.
