Hi everyone!
I just got an orchid (no idea what kind of orchid, of course) as a gift, and I'm hoping to learn from everyone here so I can keep it happy!

Hi erebor and welcome to Orchid Board

I hope we can help you keep your orchid happy, but beware, you are sure to get the orchid bug from us and soon have lots more

Why don't you post a pic of your orchid (see the link below for help on doing this). Hopefully someone can then recognise what type it is and give you some advise on keeping that type.

Thanks so much for the welcome and the tips! I did post pictures, and I've been told that I'm the proud caretaker of a Miltassia.

I love plants (large south facing windows were paramount when I was apartment-hunting!) but I've never before had an orchid-- usually I stuck to spider plants, pathos and herbs! Hopefully, I'll be able to keep the Miltassia happy-- it's so beautiful! And I'm sure that I'll want more once the shock of oh-my-god-its-an-orchid has worn off.

I've just seen your pics on the other thread and it's a beautiful plant. A great way to start in the world of Orchids.

i am very much like watching my orchids grow
