Greetings from Southern Indiana...

Hi folks -
I am just getting back into growing orchids after a long break. I grew up in Santa Barbara, CA, where orchids are very popular, and where there is a wonderful orchid society.
I'm glad to have connections to folks on the internet, but would also like to get connected with other people in Southern Indiana (I'm in Bloomington) who have an interest in orchids.
One thing's sure: growing orchids here will be a much different project than growing them in Santa Barbara was!
Anyway - I'm looking forward to building friendships through this site, as well as meeting people locally, so please say hello.

Hi David! I am in Texas, where it is about 1000 degrees right now, so I wouldn't know anything about growing in Indiana, but I'm sure there are plenty of people here that do. Welcome!

I'm in West Central Illinois and our growing conditions are very similar to those in Bloomington IN.
We lived in Bloomington for 3 years in the mid 1980's but unfortunately have lost touch with all our friends there. I was a postdoctoral fellow in the Biology Department and there were a couple of people there who were into orchids. Sorry I can't recall their names and they have probably moved on-- it was 25 years ago Maybe if you ask around the Biology Department at IU you can find some fellow orchid enthusiasts.
