Hi friends
Hi there, i am Dr.Sastry, an Indian Forest Service officer having served in different forest areas of India right from the biodiversity rich areas of Northe East parts and also Western ghats. while in NE i was hooked these orchids which is almost about 25 years back, since then enjoying the most fascinating flowering family. Ofcourse, i am an avid collector and a hobbiyist and also Vice president of The Orchid Society of Karnataka (TOSKA), incidentally Karnataka is a southern state in India. I am always fascinated by 'paphs' and have reasonable collection, down the lane will share some experiences, i have about 85 species and several hybrids in my colection, will find some time to talk and join the discussion forum as i believe there is no end to learning and intrested in interacting with orchid friends, bye for now

Welcome to THE BOARD!
With 25 years of experience you must have ALOT of interesting experiences and information to share with us all on the orchids of India!
Will be looking forward to hearing about the orchids you grow and what is happening in the orchid world in India.
Are there many web sites on the orchids in India and does your orchid society have websites that we can visit and learn more?
We hope you will visit the forum often.!

Welcome back!! I'd love to see photos of orchids growing in their natural habitat! Looking forward to your posts of photos and stories.
As an aside, I live in Bangalore for 2 years in 2004 & 2005, but alas didn't see many orchids while I was there... its only since I've come back that I have begun to grow some of the Indian species.
