Hi Welcome to orchid board
Hi friends,
Well i am trying to settle down. At this time of the year we have quite a few festivals in the form of fairs and exhibitions here and we do get lot of orchids displayed and sold both native species and hybrids. Plenty of Cymbidium hybrids comes from the state of Sikkim. I shall be attending one in the next weeka and hope to share some pictures with you all. Further, one of the friends had asked about orchids in Bangalore, well yes orchids and its growing is picking up in Bangalore and we from the orchid society doing our best to create awreness and conservation, propogation and also enjoy growing it. Otherwose in Southern State of Kerala they grow lot of Mokaros, Ascocendas and other Vandaceous hybrids in open areas as there is sufficient humidity there, i shall send some pictures as how they are growing in open areas, it is interesting.

Dr. Sastry, Hope your settling in alright. Shifting so much must be difficult with a collection of orchids!
We visited Kerala a few times while we were in India - one of our friends is from there, so we went for his marriage and also for just a holiday. I can remember seeing orchids growing in his mother-in-law's garden.
Can't wait to see your photos!

Sorry for the much delayed reply. I have doene my mMasters in Agriculture and then a post graduate diploma in Forestry and then Ph.D in Forestry. My entire interest and time now is taken away by orvhids, fortunately biodiversity conservation is also one of the areas we normally address in our work
