Hello Bogdan! Welcome to THE BOARD!

I, for one, am completely ignorant
about the orchid industry in Romania.
I definitely would like to hear more about orchid growers in Romania!

Lots of images and notes on how you grow your plants. I am sure that you have many native orchid species. Do you grow any of those too? I am looking forward to learn from you!

I am interested in Latin languages and their hitories = Roman Empire/Greeks. Thanks, I would have thought the Romans would have stayed at least a few more hundred years. Did they leave any monuments?
I bet you can get more orchids if you turn your eyes towards the EU. That is if Romania is not part of the EU yet. Its so hard to keep track of political boundaries when you are not 7 years old.

Aboard Bogdan, it's great to have you join the OB, a great community of fun and knowledge. The OB has a gallery where we can share our hobby with others. The global culture is so different, which upon the return of residing on the other end of the world one would say global difference. The OB is glad your here...

I don't grow native species, they are hard to keep at warm in winter (imposible ) but we do have (in the wild) Cypripedium calceolus (the rarest orchid of Europe, this is what I heard) and many others. I think we have more than 50 native species. My orchidclub is "fighting" for the protection of our endagered species. This is what a 'stupid' local did:

This is my photo album, I don't have so many in it, most of the pictures are made in last months, since I bought the camera.

The orchid industry is very low here, we receive orchids only from Netherlands. We don't have a nursery, nor a laboratory. I want to be a home flasker, I'm preparing for this and in april-may I will start! The Cattleyas are very hard to find; I found Vanda only once, last year in february. Since then..NOTHING!!
We aren't many orchid growers here, the club has some...15 people from all the country. But I know also people who aren't in the club, but they have orchids. The club is free, no subscription, no meetings, no sales, not a single orchid show

Yes, they left some monuments. One of them is Adam Clisi, it is a mausoleum (I think). It has sculptures representing the battles they faced with Dacic people.

The autorities and the army left in 271 AD, but many romans (from city, village) remained here. They still contributed to this civilizations mix.

Romania became part of EU starting from 1 january 2007, so I have plans to buy orchids from Germany, France, UK....hehe....I don't have the space for all my dreams
I grow in home, not on windowsills (yet), but in an enclosed balcony. My collection counts over 90 orchids, including some seedlings from UK and Germany.

Wow thanks for the links!
Have bookmarked the orchid society page as I want to look at all the great images of the terrestrial orchids!
For being fairly new as a society I am impressed by all the knowledge and efforts that the society is making for the native orchids and for exposing the people there to growing and caring for the orchids!
Here is a link to a site that has many different growers of orchids in Europe.
Not all the links may be good. Some may be in English. But a picture is worth a thousand words and one can always click on a link and see what is cool that pops up.

Wow, thanks for the links. What a shame about those picked orchids. They are soo beautiful, and now none of them will get to reproduce. Do you know if the entire plant is killed for that?
Great orchid society. Sounds like an open market. I would set up a green house and be one of the pioneers in orchid business in ROmania if I were you. Before too long, your name would be legendary.
