terrariums
Hello, I'm interested in any small orchids that will grow with terrarium begonias. We grow award winning terrarium begonias and already have one or two orchids with them but would like to get more. Charles

Hi welcome to the Orchid Board. Do you grow any Masdevallias. What conditions do Begonias like? There are lots of miniature orchids, and at least one for every condition out there, from foetid rainforest, to cold cloud forest, to desert conditions.

Charles, I'm a lover of terrarium suitable Begonias and have quite a few myself. I can say without a doubt the Maxillaria uncinata is an ideal match. I have had one growing in a terrarium with Begonia microsperma, luzonensis and others for over a year and it loves it.
I am also in search of a Begonia I ran accross this past weekend and if you have ever seen it would be interested in knowing where.
Begonia maurandiae

terrarium begonias
My wife and I belong to the American Begonia Society, and we enjoy growing and showing endangered, as well as the more common, terrarium begonias. We also grow for our own enjoyment. We currently have about 75 different terrarium begonias, some species and some hybrids. I have three rexes I have registered with the
ABS and I am looking forward to adding orchids to my collection. We need orchids that are very small and would tolerate high humidity and dampness, as we could not hook up fans, etc., and most of our terrariums remain completely covered at all times. I look forward to sharing my love of begonias, and also anticipate learning much more about orchids. Charles

I don't have this one at present but will ask around. I have several friends around the nation who grow terrarium begonias, and I'll see if I can't get one for you(and me).

Welcome Charles to the Board!
Say you might want to consider Jewel Orchids. They like it warm and humid and can do well without a fan in their tank.
For starters try Ludisia discolor. These are terrestrial types and some only seem to do well in terraria! Terrarium begonias? Must be the smaller species. I like Rex types but only have 3-got too many other plants too!!!
