Well, where to begin. I live in South Florida. I have been growing and collecting orchids for about 3+ years. I really have expanded my collection over the past year to around 70+ orchids. I have them in a Florida room. Most people use it for extra storage, but I have turned it into my orchid room. Faces the south and the windowa are always open. It is like they are outside for the most part. Many different types. I recently obtained 6 new species at the orchid shows I recently attended. I love challenging myself with new species. I have an angraecum distichum that just bloomed today!!!! I want to go back to school and get my masters in Botany. I volunteer at Fairchild Botanical Gardens. It is a very magical place.

Welcome Mindy, love to hear more about your volunteer job. Lucky You.
I also note that everyone on this question is age:27. Perhaps you bring us a Fountain of Youth? Unless ofcourse everybody is 27? Thought it was funny. Gee, I am trying to remember being 27....Nope must have been up to my elbows in diapers.

I can't really remember ever being 27. Now that is really strange. See my post-count? That's really my age!

Mindy, a fellow 27er!! hehe. I was actually just looking into voluteering at the local Botanical Garden, but feel bad that I would only be able to volunteer half a day on Saturdays. I work Mon-Fri from 8 to 8. I'm also looking to get a Masters with a Concentration either in Herpetology or Botany. Im torn between the two. I was also planning on participating the national Frog Watch FrogwatchUSA Homepage - USGS/National Wildlife Federation - FrogwatchUSA - National Wildlife Federation
Would like to hear about your experiences in volunteering.

No matter how often you are available to volunteer, they will be happy you want to help out. I love volunteering. I help out with a program that gets local school kids learning about environmental issues. I think it is a wonderful program and I love being a part of it. For future events I get to be a panelist and judge some of the events.

Tin,
I love frogs too!!! I have a tattoo of a frog on my ankle. I have had it for almost 10 years! I am just a nature lover period!! I have always loved plants, but I really got interested in them about 6 years ago. I had a jasmine vine I bought at a local garden center. I lived on the third floor of an apartment complex. THe vine kept getting knocked over by the wind. Every day I would come out and pick him up again and again and again. This went on for about two weeks. Then one day I came out and he had wrapped one of his vines around the balcony pole. Thus adapting to his surroundings!! Very cool. I have been completely hooked on plants ever since.
