Default My first orchid

My sister collects orchids and when I first saw her collection I realized how much I like them. They are very beautiful and unique flowers. I'm so in love with them. Yesterday I got my first orchid and I'm so excited. I hope I don't kill it. So please, help me out and teach me how to take care of it. I would really appreciate it!!

I have attached pictures of my very first orchid. Hopefully, with your help and the help of my sister I won't kill it!

Little sister!! I sure did pick out a pretty orchid. Looks strangely familiar! Don't I have one just like that? Hehehehe! Welcome to the Orchid Board. I'm sure everyone will help you and be very welcoming and helpful. If you have any questions, just ask. They will be answered! It's good to know that you have an interest in orchids. Before you know it, mom's house will be full of them!

Hi Leslie,

That's a great orchid, it reminds me of Baldans's Kalaidescopic but I can't be sure. It's sure got pretty pattening.

My tip with Phals is always to get your watering right. When you water, water thoroughly and get the medium thoroughly wet, then drain it well and don't leave the pot standing in water. If you have a clear pot then you should water it when the roots, right down to the bottom, go silver. If not use a skewer pushed in to the medium, don't water until (when you pull it out) it no longer looks damp and does not feel cold if you hold it against your cheek.

Great to have you here, and hope you enjoy keeping orchids as much as you sister.

Welcome!
Your first orchid is a beautiful one! Very lovely colors and markers! I can see why you choose this one.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions!
Nicole
