Intro of an addict :D
Default Intro of an addict :D

Hi all, I'm Dan from England, total orchid addict lol. Addicted to the point that I just got a new apartment based on its suitability for the orchids I have phals, dends, an onc and a few encyclias. Blooming, those just spiking and seedlings.

Below are a couple of my orchids and my current growing space.

Great Orchid collection Dan, and welcome to Orchid Board.

I also live in the UK but I'm only just venturing to things other than Phals. How do you find the Onc and Encycilas do for you? (I'm looking for something else which will grow well here in the midlands, I already have a Den.)

Thanks for the welcomes people

The oncs and encyclias...well, I can't say how well they will fare in the long run - I have only had them a short time. Long as light and humidity are good I think they will be ok! My collection went from 2 phals to 8 phals, a cattleya, a laylia, two encyclias, a dend and an onc...in 3 weeks lol. Have run out of space now though lol, and don't think the new flat will have enough room for many more hehe.

Surprisingly, I found the dend and onc in Homebase...I only went in to see if they had orchid bark, and they were on the half price reduced stand. Nothing wrong with them, still in full bloom and everything. Didn't complain

I've never seen any in Homebase but then we only have a small one near us.

I saw an interesting looking Den in B&Q the other week but I had already bought two Phals that day (one on discount in Sainsburys because it's flower spike was damaged and the other in the local garden center when I went to get an outer pot for the first.

Your collection's grown a lot faster than mine, I've bought six of my seven 'chids in the last 12 months and plan to get a lot more in the next 12.

On the flipside, we only have a small B&Q near us that does not do orchids lol. Which is a shame because I work next door to it!

Morrisons has about a billion orchids in stock. I'm wondering when they will stop blooming and get sold off.....
