My name is Meg. I'm new to orchids. I've only had them for a couple of weeks, but I've always wanted them...just never took the plunge before. Now I have 6! I started out with a Phalaenopsis NOID, then along came the Cattleya NOID, two Encyclia Rufas, and a BLC Hawaii Stars "Paradise", and then last week Dearest Hubby bought me a Dendrobium Emma White.

A little about myself... I'm 21 years old, married to my best friend! I work at the barn where we keep our horse, Copenhagen, and the feed store owned by the same people that own the barn. DH is a communications officer for the United States Air Force, stationed at Shaw AFB. But we're moving to San Antonio, TX this June where he'll be stationed at Lackland AFB. We have two dogs and the afore mentioned horse. A German Shepherd puppy named Millie...she'll be 8 months old on April 15, and a Blue Heeler mix named Mutt that's abour 4 years old. Cope, the horse, is 15.

That's really about it for now

Helo Meg and welcome to Orchid Board.

You've got some great orchids there, this is a great place to learn just how to look after them.

It sounds like you have a great Hubby who is encoraging your new hobby. I married my best friend as well and he's being really encoraging about my new hobby.

You may end up with no one to hold you back though

When you move to big TX you will be in an even better location to grow orchids the main things down there will be humidity and shade. You may want to look into Cymbidium they are a ground orchid that dose extremely well with a supply of horse manure. And I think you can leave them out all year if they are in shade down in TX.

Meg, I warn you.... In the moment you joined here, you are in serious danger! You'll have more, and more, and MORE orchids! You won't be able to resist them in the garden stores or anywhere else!
I love it.... So welcome at OB!

Ps. Where are photos of your chids?! I'd be also glad to see the horse.... I love them!
