Considering this addiction.
Hello. I've been lurking in this and one other Orchid forum, Orchid Forum Orchid Care , where I have also just registered. I don't currently have any Orchids but am debating whether or not to go down this road. I always notice these beautiful plants where ever I go and would like to own one. I've noticed over the years that I get into a hobby and then get bored or loose patience and quit. A few years ago it was miniature roses, though part of loosing interest in that was my dislike for being outside in Florida's hot humid weather. If I decide to grow Orchids they're going to be staying indoors with me. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and let y'all know who's lurking around in here.

Welcome to the board ![Waving](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/thumb_wave.gif) I am very new to orchids but this lot here has got me addicted already I have just purchsed 5 seedlings and a Den. nobile that are being delivered tomorrow! beware once bitten by the bug there seems to be no escaping ![ROFL](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/rofl3.gif) This latests purchase was to get me over the fact that i found one of my Phals had root rot, believe me once you start you will find any excuse to buy more !! This is a great place to learn and no question I have asked so far has been seen as stupid, people seem happy to answer even the most basic of queries. And by looking at previous posts and others posts you learn a lot also. I would say jump in there with both feet and enjoy the world of orchids and OrchidBoard

Well, I went out and bought a Phal today. Thats all the tag says so I dont know anything else about it. Here are some pictures, sorry if they're dark. I'm better at taking pictures of my pets. Still learning all the camera functions. ![Big Grin](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/biggrin2.gif)

Welcome to the board.
Thats a very nice looking Phal. None of mine look that good. Mine have suffered years of abuse and they still flower. I just picked up 2 more for $3. each marked down at the supermarket.

Welcome to the Orchid Board Koala!! I'm fairly certain you won't be getting bored with this hobby! There are so many different orchids to choose from. If you get bored of the phals, then you can go to dens, catts, paphs, oncs, phrags!! OMG the possibilities are endless. I think I'm drooling!!! There are plenty of enablers here to help you get over any boredom you may begin to feel. Plenty of people to answer any questions you may have. Don't forget to check out the chat, it's pretty crazy in there sometimes, but a lot of fun! You will be buying orchids, bark, fertilizer, pots, tags, clips...EVERYTHING you can get your hands on, before you know it! Good Luck with your new chid, it's a beauty. I'm sure this will be the start of a beautiful relationship!

Hi Koala that is a beauty of an orchid you've got there. Congratulations on your first one. ![Blushing](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/blushing02.gif)
I see that the orchid is potted in moss so you will have to be careful you don't overwater it. Moss stays wet for long periods and that's not good for some orchids. You may want to repot in a reg. Phalenopsis mix. If you leave it in moss let it dry out before you rewater. If you have questions just ask someone will respond.
Welcome aboard the Orchid Board.
Good Growing

I'm also new to caring about orchids, I was a former abuser of phals. What is a good mix for Phals. I am now an addict and dont want to kill them. ![Evil](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/evil.gif)
