Newcomer from Alberta - Orchid Board

Hey everyone, just thought I'd introduce myself to the forum. I live in Alberta with my fiancee, am an avid gardener and aquarist and have recently discovered an affinity for orchids as well.

So far my collection includes a Paph Hsinying's Web, Paph Venustum, a NOID phal, Coel messangeana, oncidium sharry baby, and two NOID cymbidiums.

I'm looking forward to getting advice from all of you and learning as much as I can about these gorgeous and exotic babies!

interesting, but i have exactly the same interests and hobbies.
you have a good choice of starter orchids.you will learn a lot on o/b.

I am central albertan Nick, from Edmonton area myself too. Did you happen to go to Orchid Dreams this weekend? I did, and it was wonderful! that's actually where I picked up the paphs, oncidium and coel. I'm looking forward to joining the orchid society soon, too.

HI guppylove, I did go to Orchid Dreams, I actually worked Security on Fri and Sat. It was alot of fun actually. Joined the society on last week as well so I could go to the presale! Picked up 19 new chids for the collection.

Were your new paphs from Forest View? Look like the little ones I purchased from them.

congrats on your 19 new little chids! Yeah, my paphs came from Forestview too. They had some really nice people working their table, answered all of my questions with patience and a smile.

Was the first time I have dealt with them, but they are actually from my hometown in BC. Which is a pretty big thing considering there are maybe at most 10,000 people in the town, and have only just now gotten a Subway restaurant!
