Hi Everybody!
This seems like a fantastic board and I'm happy to be a new member here. My name is Ray, and I live on the Central Coast of California, about halfway between Santa Cruz and Monterey. I first got turned on to orchids I guess about 5 or 6 years ago by a friend who lived in San Diego, along with our mutual long-time friend, Harry Phillips of Andy's Orchids. (Andy's brother.) My very first orchids were some reed epis from clippings along with a bletilla striata given to me by them, and it wasn't long before I was fully bitten by the bug. Take a look at the list in my profile and you will see how true this is. I've had a good deal of success with most of them and I look forward to putting up some pictures. My only real "problem children" are the dracula houteanna and the gastrorchis tuberculosa. I will post more on them in the appropriate fora and hopefully get some good advice.
Anyway, thanks for being here, and I look forward to some entertaining and informative discussions with all of you.
Peace,
Ray

Thanks a lot! I guess I thought I had a lot of orchids, pushing 50 or so, but after taking a peak at some other profiles... wow! Someday I hope to get a greenhouse and then look out! However, what with all the daily watering and my apparent obsession, my girlfriend has forbidden me to buy any more at this time.
Of course, that doesn't preclude orchids I receive as gifts from friends and family members... I just got three more from my sister last month as a birthday present. Ha!

Welcome
Welcome aboard
I love checking out peoples orchid pics!!!!
This is a good place to send a little free time. And, fewww I am glad my wife is more understanding then your girlfriend. I need to buy orchids at times!!! Like for example when it's raining, when I have a rough week, when I get a raise, and of course on the days that end in Y.
Well, maybe she will get the bug and you can collect them together

Hi Ray and welcome to Orchid Board! Central coast... what a beautiful area! And pretty good for growing orchids too I'd imagine. I'm stuck in the valley with winters too cold and summers too hot.
And, I just took a peek at your gallery. Very nice I love that mount for your unknown cattleya!
