Default Hello

Hi,

I have just been given a beautiful orchid. It only has a label saying

SMART_F Smart Thing PlantID 138950

Does this identify it?
How do I look after it?

best regards

I can't find anything for an orchid under that name. Perhaps you could post a photo ??

PS I can't see the pictures. They are on flickr, but it does not seem to pick them up. Strange! URLs are

and

or just search flickr for CharlesViolaPlayer

Hi Charles,
I don't think that the links came through...I only see little boxes with red x's in them.

I've added links now that seem to work.

If anyone knows why the [IMG]...{/IMG] did not work, I'd be interested. It came from clicking the icon "Insert Image".

I can see that it is a phalaenopsis hybrid, but I have no idea what the name might be...
By the way, I poked through some of your photos and love the snow and birds too! It is funny to see your photos of birds and squirrels, as they look so similar to the ones that I photographic here in Florida, you'd never know that we lived so far apart!

Oh, and as to how to look after it...
They like to dry out before watering, so you can probably get away with watering once a week. A good way to check is to either stick your finger in the potting or stick a pencil in and only water when just the bottom is still wet. They like less light than most orchids, so you will probably be good growing it indoors in a room that does get some decent light.
Hopefully someone else will chime in as Phalaenopsis really aren't my specialty...

Thanks, Laura, very useful.

Have just found

Phalaenopsis Just so

which is identical in colour and shape.

Interesting that our fauna is like yours, with your weather so much warmer.

Thanks, Susanne, I'll go and learn.
