Question Big Fan of Phalenopsis

Hi everyone . I saw this site while browsing information on my favorite plant , the moth orchid or Phalenopsis . I have quite a collection going , last count 75 . All in different stages of growth .

I have had quite a huge success with my plants on the feeding watering schedule that I have adapted from the information I have collected . I have managed to get my orchids to rebloom and some have actually made Keikis or babies .

I am interested in finding out all there is to know about them (that I don't know already ) . But what I really want to know is , how to get an orchid to send out two spikes at one time instead of just one . My plants are very healthy and vigorous and they do put the spikes out but usually only one at a time . If anyone knows a secret , will be glad to listen .

Hi Brush and welcome to the Orchid Board. Sorry I don't have a answer for your 2 spike question. I'm sure that someone will be able help. But I have to say that Phals gave the most trouble. Usually water issues. until I started mounting them. Now they are happy and thriving.

Hi Brush, welcome to the forum!
I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

I would love to see your orchids and hear from you about your culture and growing rooms(s).

75 Phal's, that's quite a number!

The age of the plant will sometimes dictate whether it is strong enough to grow two (or more) spikes at one time.

The other reason is which species are in the background.

I have posted some pictures of my phalenopsis , although that is not all of them that I have . I do not have growing rooms , they are just in my house by my windows where they do get adequate light . I also move them around the house according to the suns position of the seasons . I do have a rigorous watering and feeding schedule that I follow to a t . I usually repot my phals when they show signs of new roots growing and when they are not in flower . I hope you can view some of my pics . I should have more posted soon and have some that just came into flower . Enjoy.
