everyone. I am from Tampa Bay area Fl. I am 34 year old male, married. I have three children and the same amount of dogs. I hope we don't have any more kids, as I don't think I can deal anymore dogs We live on a Black Angus Cattle Ranch (an other hobby) I work for the N.R.C.S at a Plant Material Center. Have several Orchids in my collection. I grow in a North-East-South exposed glass/screen sun room that is shaded by blinds in the winter and I am in the process of building a pergola inspired shade house with similar exposure. For there vacation house. So, that's me.

Welcome Phrogz3!

May I suggest getting in touch with cb977 (Susanne). She is right up the street from you (Spring Hill) and could probably relay a lot of "local knowledge".
She's already done wonders for my orchid-abilities! (Not to mention my self-esteem )

Welcome to Orchidboard!
Sounds like you're quite busy, with the kids, dogs, cows and orchids! Forgive my ignorance, what's N.R.C.S?

Phrogz3 and to the OB !!!! You've found a great place to share and learn about orchids. And let me tell you that there are many enablers here so your collection might get bigger than what you think in no time.

Hi, all thanks so much for the warm welcome !!!! Susanne it's always nice to have a hello from a neighbor. I have mostly dens., and phals. A cat, vanda, mokara (that I can't find much info on and doesn't seem happy) miltassa, cym. a little local Fl. native ( I think it's a enc. looked it up once, but can't recall)and a compot of ENC.ATROPINE (ENC.CORDIGERAX ENC.TAMPENSIS) on the way. My addiction /hobby has grown fast I'm up to 22 plants and a compot and only fell in love about a year ago. Susanne do you know of a good outside mix for cym. in our area?
Camille I have a duck too ;-) the NRCS is the United States Federal Governments Natural Resources Conservation Services we amongst other things grow native grasses for habitat restoration, plants that maybe used for biofuels, and others for erosion control.
I join the board to have an addiction out let, but speaking of enablers I REALLY want and can't find a Pabstia. So if any one can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

Phrogz3 (Jonathan)

I have one big pot full of Cyms planted in straight fir bark but all the others are in plain aliflor or hydroton (as are most of my chids)

Now that sounds like a fun job! And you are doing good things for the environment and biodiversity. I'm a student in plant Sciences, and even though I'm majoring in plant pathology, I also have some ecology courses too.

Hello Jonathan! Welcome to the board! My husband and I go down and visit Sue from time to time...well, ok, we've been there twice but it feels like my home away from home (not to mention her pillows smell good...)

Anyway...glad you could join us! Maybe next time we're down we can all get together for some steaks!!! Though I'm having difficulty seeing cows as a hobby...I just thought they were for dinner...hehe. Did I mention that I can "moo" really well?
