Question Vanda Sanderiana with yellowing leaves, browning roots

Hi, I'm so new at this I do not even know where to go for the introduction. So I will just use this space to say hello to all. I am a newbie. I live in the Philippines in the colder area of Cavite. I bought several vanda sanderianas because the flowers are so beautiful. I did not know that these plants are so hard to care for. I placed them outside the house in a Northeast location. Did all the gurus said to do on the internet. Except that none was mentioned about what to do if it is always raining. Here in my country, it rains half of the year. Not everyday but maybe 3 times a week. Sometimes there is no sunlight. So now I have unhealthy vandas. Yellowing leaves, wrinkled and just....sad looking. One lost all its roots. Should I take them all inside the house and wait until the summer comes( maybe February). It has been very windy and cold lately too , about 66 deg. Farenheit or 19 deg Celcius. Pls help before the others die too. Thank you so much

Hi there and welcome.

I am no expert but I live in a similar climate where can often rain for weeks at a time with temperatures dropping to 19 cel. or lower. What I do is I have hooks under the eaves (roof edges). When it rains or is cloudy for weeks I bring my Vandas in under the eaves and hang them on these hooks; this prevents too much rain from producing crown rot in such cooler but conditions but still allows exposure to the odd burst of -much needed- sun. Hope this helps

Thanks Amanvari. Thats all I wanted to be assured of....that too much rain is not good for the vandas. Thank you so much. I will do that. Actually I have them under the eaves, but when the wind blows, the rain still wets the plants. I will find a better place. Thanks

I think the main problem is not too much rain but too much rain combined with colder overcast weather. Good luck
