Hi all! I'm new here! So glad I have found this site. My hubby bought me a 2nd Mini Orchid, as the first one he bought, died. I really thought I was doing as I was told in caring for it

He came home with a beautiful purple one in full bloom and I am hoping that I can get the support here to care for it and keep this one alive!!

There are plenty of questions I have to ask. 1) What exactly does it mean when the directions say to "check the medium"? 2)Where is the best place to put it???

Welcome to the board, and hopefully you'll get the info you need to keep this one happy! Don't feel bad though, everyone kills an orchid at some point.... even after years of growing.

Checking the medium just means to check what the orchid is growing in. You want to make sure that it's still in good condition, meaning not broken down. The best place to put the orchid depends on what kind it is.

Welcome to the Orchid Board!!!! You will most certainly get some great advice!! We have some mini lovers on here that could answer any question under the sun for you!! Don't worry about killing that first one!! I have killed plenty, almost gave up too, until I found this board . But, because of this forum I am up to 12 plants, I'm sure there will be more coming this of course causes my husband GREAT PAIN!
One thing to remember is everyone on here loves , so take as many as you can!
