Default Hello out there!

Hi everyone!

I've been growing orchids for about a year now, and have gotten more and more into this amazing hobby (and carreer, for some of you) every day. So far I've managed to keep my plants confined to my bedroom and not take over the house, and they all seem to be doing very well (got my Degarmoara Winter Wonderland 'White Fairy' spiking only a few months after buying it in-flower, can't wait 'till the buds open up!).

Most recently I finished a little DIY terrarium setup for my masdie (I'm planning on getting more soon, counting the day's 'till my orchid society's next meeting... but for now, only one.) and a few propagations that could use the extra humidity.

I've been looking at this forum for a while, and decided registering was the right thing to do. After all, I can come here any time, but my orchid society only meets once a month...

So yeah, that's me.
-Joseph

Welcome, Joseph! Great to have you join us. I've found this to be a great source of information, help and advice; filled with great people who are very understanding and collectively have tons of experience.

It is definitely a great resource to have 'at your fingertips' when you have a question about something.

We'd love to see photo of your terrarium setup! I'm sure it will be filled up in no time...

Here are some pictures of my tank; the first one's my humidifier setup, the second's the plants in the box (minues the Phalaenopsis seeds I have germinating in the corner), and the third's just a picture of the whole thing.

I think I'll have to figure out some way to raise the light a little bit more, if anything get's much taller it risks getting too close to the CFL suspended from the "roof".

Hi Helen, more towards the middle really. I live in Ontario, although I have to say sometimes I envy the climate they've got going down in the U.S. *sigh* Oh well, we make do up here, eh?
