Greetings from Norfolk, VA!

Just thought I'd stop by and say that the orchid bug has bitten me. As soon as I started researching what a challenge it is to grow these incredible plants, I knew I had to try.

Hubby and I made a "first time's a charm" glove box today and I'll jump in feet first.

As though this science teacher needs *another* hobby...

welcome jensine! you will find much useful information here about your new hobby...altho most of us find orchid growing more than a hobby...its an AFFLICTION! please dont hesitate to join right in and welcome again to the board!

The orchid bug huh? Yeah, I don't think anyone around here has gotten it

Just a warning... it is highly contagious and pretty much incureable.

No chids here yet...I am a science teacher (aka geek!) and learned about how incredibly technical it is to grow these babies from seed...I've been fascinated ever since. I'm hoping to bring an orchid home this week. My birthday is approaching and hubby has *explicit* instructions to NOT get me cut flowers this year, but an orchid plant that I can nuture and get to know.

We shall see. We've only been married three years and sometimes he forgets his training.

I'll send a pic as soon as I have one!!
