Hello
Default Hello

Hello, I'm Ray from Redondo Beach in Southern California, a great place to grow many orchids outdoors year-round. I have only about 200 sq. ft. of greenhouse space, but a lot of outdoor shaded and sunny area - enough for over 2,000 orchids in all. I have been collecting since February, 2007, nearly two years. Most of my collecting now is of species and some primary hybrids - Cattleya, Laelia, Paphiopedilum, Dendrobium, Phragmepidium, Cymbidium and Bulbophyllum primarily (using the "old" nomenclature, as I will be for quite some time...) Anyway, hello...hope to exchange ideas and info, glad to be a member...

Hello Ray! Welcome to the best board on the web. This is a great community. Those residing here are an ecclectic mix of the experienced and unexperienced orchid growers/fans from all over the world. They freely share their vast knowledge with others. Advice and comments are made with respect (sometimes mixed with good-natured kidding). Threads range from serious discussions to absolute goofiness and everywhere in between. Join the fun.

You mentioned that your greenhouse has room for 2000 orchids. Does that mean that you have room for 2000 plants, or that you HAVE 2000 orchids?
Did I mention that we love s here?

Hi Brooker,

Welcome to the OB. It's nice to meet you.

It sounds like you've put quite a collection together in a short period of time.

As others have mentioned, we'd love to see some pics when you get a chance.

2,000 orchids is less than 2 years. I suspect that may be a record.

Welcome to OB. We are waiting for pictures.
