I'm delighted to have found this forum to learn more about orchids. Actually it didn't take much finding, since nearly every topic I "googled" found a hit on the Orchid Board. I've already spent a good deal of time reading through posts this afternoon and am so impressed by the wealth of knowledge here.
My first two orchids were gifts from my husband, both beautiful Phals from a local florist that have bloomed and rebloomed since last Christmas. Now I've expanded my small collection to include a tiny blooming Oncidium (Carnival Costume) and a Howeara (Lava Burst) with the prettiest little spikes of rosy red flowers. Yesterday I made a trip over the mountains to purchase a hybrid Phal, Shenandoah Fire (with four spikes!) from a local orchid nursery. I guess you could say I'm hooked and glad to be here!
hi neighbor! i am downhill from you a little bit in nc... glad you found us all here, this is a knowledgeable crowd, and very friendly. you will love it here i am sure! welcome, nora
Welcome to the board, Lindsay! Since I've been here, I've found this to be a very friendly place filled with people who happily share their knowledge.
If your drive over the mountains took you to Gordonsville, and Floradise Orchids, you went to a wonderful place. Years ago I lived in Richmond and made regular pilgrimages up to see them. Thus, if your drive was to someplace other than Floradise, I'd highly recommend that you take the trip!
