hello, i am new and i thot i would intro myself. i have grown orchids for over 30 years in my home, mostly cattleya types. i just built my greenhouse (from a kit) last year and i have gone ape crazy buying orchids untill my little 12x24 greenhouse is packed. i love all my orchids, and i have every type imaginable right now except the real warm growers. i have nite temps at 55degrees and daytime at 90ish. so far all the babies have thrived and i havent encountered major problems with culture. i had a bout of phal crown rot which i treated with peroxide, and a few aphids which i neemed to death, and several hungry slugs which caused me grief for a bit....i am battling the light right now, i think i took off my shade cloth too soon and some of my catts have purple leaf syndrome....my biggest problem right now is the size of my greenhouse IT IS TOO SMALL! I love cattleyas of all shapes and sizes. i hope to start painting the orchids as soon as i get my art studio cleaned out and useable. thats about it, glad to be here and i hope to share info with you all. thanks, dou
