Hello from a former GAOS member now in Atlanta
Hello to all the OB members. I have been growing (and killing ) orchids for about 5 years. I love learning about their culture. I just moved from Akron where I was a member with the Greater Akron Orchid Society. Now here in Atlanta, I am too far away from the Atlanta Society to join so I was happy to find this group on the web. I favor phrags and paphs with many others varieties included in my collection. I just received the Orchid Wiz Enc. Thanks for the special pricing for the OB members. I needed this type of DB. Good by for now

Welcome Valhill! I live in Rome...so I guess it's wlecome to the OB and to the south. I travel frequently to the Troy & Dayton, OH areas and even though I'm no 'chid-spert...I think the climate here will be to your liking!

Hi VALHILL, and welcome both to this board and also to Atlanta. How far west of the city are you? I live in Smyrna and there are some other members here in the general area. In Atlanta, almost everything is far away!
There's a nice greenhouse - Peach State Orchids - located not too far from here, in Woodstock, GA. They have a nice plant selection and great prices, and are friendly folks on top of it all.

I'm in Villa Rica, work in Marietta and I just visited Peach State last week. Nice greenhouse and great plants. There were more orchid places in OH than here which surprises me!!!! The downtown Atlanta group is just too far for me to join. I was thinking of trying to put together a West Atlanta OS to avoid any Atlanta commutes. I wonder how many of us there are?

I am not sure, but you can count me in if you decide to give it a go! I tried contacting the Atlanta Society and they never responded, so I decided not to worry about them.

Hi Valhill
We'd love to see some of your collection and hear more about how you are growing them.
What a wonderful idea...starting a new orchid club because there isn't one available to you! Bravo!!!
If you need help with anything here on OB, let us know

Hi Valhill,
It's nice to meet you...welcome to the OB.
I look forward to seeing some pics of your chids. Good luck with getting an OS together. I hope that it all works out for you.
