Hello ...
... I think it's time for me to stop lurking and introduce myself!
I live in SF Bay Area - been trying to grow orchids for about 4 years - I actually do have my first one! Tho more than a few have been lost in the interim.
Already have learned a lot from the board - and was just in chat and met a few people there. Look forward to learning more from y'all

welcome whiterabbit. we all started with one orchid at one time. 16 orchids would have seemed a lot to me a few years ago.
anyway i am a firm believer in mastering the art of orchid growing; before enlarging you,re colection.
its not about quantity but quality. right?

ok - trying to post pix - hope I am doing it correctly lol
didn't know what this was but happily bloomed on my window sill this spring - seems it is either odontioda Margaret Holm "Alpine" or odontoglossum Margarete Holm "Lupine" - have seen in identified as both in multiple places but it was in trying to identify it that led me to this board

yes - I am trying to not go to fast - I did do that a bit initially and got overwhelmed and lost plants
didn't get any new ones for quite some time - just took care of what I had - tho have got myself some new ones this year - am working on getting some pix taken and posted
thanks all for the warm welcome!

Welcome aboard, WhiteRabbit. I have that cross also. I've seen it listed both ways too, but the nursery I bought it from says it is Odontoglossum Margret Holme 'Alpine', so that's what I'm sticking with. Have fun here, I sure do.
