have been growing phalaenopsis hybrids and species mounted on wood for a number of years. I have got the best results on putting the orchids on trees to grow as naturally as possible. Silvery roots spreading all over the trunk of the tree and growing to amazing lengths - unimaginable in pot culture.
Welcome aboard, n.k. Natural is always the best way to grow just about anything. It's more fun too. When you get a chance, post some pics of your phals, so we all can share in your success.
I have 99% of my Phals on wood too! I love them!! And they love their wood too
Amazing how their roots grab that wood soooooo tight too!! Sooooo cool!!!
I have many catts and lots and lots of species, dendros, and almost every kind of chid I have, Mounted on Wood!!
I just love seeing them!!
Apart from Phals I have Dendrobium species & hybrids and Vandas growing on mounts and on trees. The few Cattlleyas are in pots. Will send pics of "Phal Tree"
oh wow wow WOW!!! That tree is unbelievable. The phals seem to really love it there seeing the amount of blooms and the amount of roots clinging to that tree! That truely is an amazing sight.
