I have been reading the forum for the past week and I just wanted to say
I caught the orchid bug last year when my wife and I bought a Phalaenopsis as a gift for my mother and walked out with a V. Robert's Delight Pink for us. Now almost a year latter and I must have done something right because I have a huge flower spike with lots of buds on it. But I know it will be helpful to ask questions from people who know what they are doing. And if the Vanda isn’t enough of a hassle I now have a Nobile Dendrobium and an ‘Akai Ryu’ Venus flytrap coming to me what can I say I enjoy a challenge.
Welcome to the OB! If you have any questions about your chids, don't be shy...there's lots of helpful folks hanging around the forums to share their knowledge.
Have fun, and post some pics when you can...I'd love to see your spiking vanda!
Thanks, I have just been doing what ever it takes to keep the plant happy. Now it is just returning the favor.
I am amazed at how fast the spike has grown; that entire spike is about one month of growth. Every day when I get home from work there is a noticeable amount of growth.
And soon enough those buds will start to open. Once they do, the flowers will actually grow larger over about a 1 to 2 week period, so it's important to maintain good watering practices to encourage the largest blooms possible. I'm excited for you.
Hi Neb, Can't wait to see pics of the blooms. I don't have an answer about the tips. Maybe someone else here has an idea. Whatever you are doing it's working since you have a bloom spike and lots of buds. Keep up the good work
