Default Hello from Malta

Hi everybody,

My name is Karen and my Orchid attraction began when I visited Thailand 2 years ago. I got with me very small Vanda plants in a bottle, which make it easier to travel with, they grew bigger but unfortunatley none of them survived since I knew nothing (and still don't) about these plants. Well, last Sunday I was at a local garden centre and had these beautiful orchids in bloom for sale and decided to give it another shot!

I bought 2 plants! One in bloom which bears the name of Cambria Grp Gem and the other has no flowers which is tagged as Denbrobium mixed 1 branch. In deed it has one branch and another 2 offsprings.

If I succeeded attaching the photos you'll be able to see the Cambria. If you could direct me for the correct name it would be fantastic as I would then find how to properly take care of it.

I thank you
Karen

Welcome aboard, Karen. I'm not sure what the names of your new chids are, but they are nice. You may never know for sure, but that doesn't make them any less special. Have a great time here.

I thank you all for welcoming me.

I went through your galleries, my God what beatiful orchids you have!!!

tuvoc, you are right in saying that since I don't know much about my orchids doesn't make them less special.....but the only thing is that I really don't want to make mistakes this time.

Till now I have been more of a cactus person and I love it when they bloom.....its so satisfing. But I feel that Orchids are not as hardy, they are more delicate, hence a larger probability to failure and don't know from where to start!!!!

Shirley.....I believe I am the only Maltese OB member for the time being but I believe I will not be the only one for long, since the market is innundated with orchids at the moment and soon other curious orchid owners will look for more info...like I did!

Thanks for your warm welcome

Karen

Welcome to OB! Malta is a beautiful country with really nice people

Vandas are not that easy to start, especially not bottle plants. Hopefully you will have better luck with your cambrias
