I am a hobbist who has been trying to grow orchids for a lot of years. I have three or four hundred plants in a backyard greenhouse. After all the years of growing, I still feel like a novice. The most pleasure I get is when I see the first flower on a seedling that I grew to maturity.

That's quite a few orchids! What genera do you like or grow the most of?
There are a few of us in FL, what city are you in?

I have something near equal amounts of cats, phals, dens, onc. and vanda types with some other odds and ends. I also have about fifteen cymbidiums that I grow in pots in my patio garden. The equitant oncidiums are probably my favorite plants but I do find them difficult. It seems they do well for several years and then die for no apparent reason. I just ordered ten new equitants from Palmer Orchids in Bradenton. Palmer, by the way, is the grower for Sun Bulb Co. and has his own nursery on the side.
I live just East of Orlando in a small town called Minneola.

Sounds like a great purchase, I've read about them being a great beginner orchid, I have 2 oncidiums new to my collection, short lived blooming and was wondering if this is the norm or my conditions need to be reviewed.
Minneola, small town, or at least it use to be, I live east of Orlando in a what use to be a small town called Casselberry. Geez, how Orl has populated and moving to the out-skirts...
