Williette Wong "The Best"

I just became a member, so Hello Everyone. I bought a Williette Wong "The Best" from Wal-Mart a few months ago. It is in a very small plastic container (2"x2"x2") should I repot this little gem or leave it alone for a year or so ?

The name you've given sounds like the hybrid name. To really know what to tell you we'd need to know a bit more - the genus of the plant (Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, etc.). If you aren't sure of the genus but can post a picture of the plant, that might help a lot, too.

I was mistaken, I got it from Lowes. I did search this site for the name and found great pics. I hope mine will be as nice.

I just Googled it. That's a really pretty flower! Since yours is in such a small pot I'll presume that it's not yet blooming size - but also hope I'm wrong!

Regardless, I would repot the plant. Most I've seen at the big box stores have been in their material for a good while, and so are in need of fresh potting medium. Use a pot enough larger to allow for at least a year's growth. Catts like to be secure, but they also like the roots to breathe. They only grow new roots from new pseudobulbs, so unless the plant is in a growth phase you'll not see new root growth. It the roots don't look good, mist regularly to keep the pseudobulbs moist.

I got the same one from Lowes and did re pot it to a 3 inch pot . if they have become very dry sitting in the store some of the roots will die ,then when watered soak it up sit there not able to use the water then rot .

I would repot also. Make sure you soak your mix for 24 hours before repotting. There is lots of information here to help you along. It sounds like a young plant and you may have to wait a bit for a bloom, but you have a real cutie there. Good luck!
